I am terrible at keeping in touch with people. It’s something I really should work on! The silver lining being that, when I do finally catch up with a childhood friend after 15 years, there is a good amount of exciting life events to catch up on.
That was the case when I recently popped over to see Martin Webb who now finds himself shredding it as guitarist in heavy metal outfit Arcite. As heavy and as solid as an anvil, the band is going from strength to strength and I was lucky enough to pin down Martin for a photo-shoot in between recording their second album and touring the country. If you like your riffs heavy, Arcite are certainly one to watch out for.
I wanted to capture him in his natural environment so we met at Arcite HQ – their rehearsal and writing space in the trendy Ouseburn Valley of Newcastle’s east end. This was to present a number of challenges from a photography perspective as space was limited and the lighting was more functional than flattering.
However, we have the technology as they say and, between wide-angle lenses and some nicer lighting I was able to bring along, we started to create some nice creative images.
It was great to catch up and I hope to drastically reduce the time between visits. Thanks to Martin for being a co-operative and patient model for the shoot.
